GET EQUIPMENT

The Meyer Medical Equipment Center (MMEC) provides medical and mobility equipment to anyone in need on a donate-what-you-can basis, without eligibility requirements or an application process for most items.

If you have a disability–whether long or short term–and would like to obtain equipment, we invite you to visit our warehouse. Our experienced staff will be happy to discuss your needs, assist with selection and fitting, and send you home with the equipment you need to safely and comfortably navigate your community and home.

Application for Motorized Mobility Equipment

(FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO MAKE DONATION)

Frequently, we receive requests for power wheelchairs or scooters from individuals, advocates, medical personnel, and others looking for power equipment for a user who has limited or no financial means from which to contribute toward the cost of this expensive equipment. Because the need is greater than we can fulfill, we have developed a process to assist us in providing power mobility equipment at low to no cost for 2-4 people per month – depending on the type of equipment and the funds available.

4. Making your donation

We ask that people taking equipment home from the MMEC make a donation to help us cover the cost of cleaning, repairing, stocking, and storing the item. Each item has a suggested donation amount attached, but we encourage everyone to donate an amount that they can comfortably give. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Making a donation when you pick up your equipment helps us keep the MMEC’s shelves stocked and doors open. Whether you give the full suggested donation or can only afford a lesser amount, we appreciate your support. More information on suggested donations can be found on our Available Equipment page.

5. Maintaining and returning your equipment

MAINTENANCE

You are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of your item, including safe storage and replacing batteries.

RETURNING EQUIPMENT

You’re welcome to use the equipment for as long as you need it, but in order to help as many people as possible, we ask that all items obtained from the MMEC be returned when no longer needed.
