July Volunteer Spotlight – Trish Ostertag
Trish joined the Meyer Medical Equipment Center as a volunteer back in 2019 and she brought to the center a very sorely needed expertise in pediatric medical equipment. Our pediatric inventory needed organizing and Trish made that happen. Since then, she has been instrumental in assisting those who come to the center seeking much needed equipment for their children. We would like for you to get to know Trish too. Here’s a little about her in her own words:
“I first learned about Bridge Ministries more than 10 years ago while working at the Kindering Center as a pediatric physical therapist. Over many years, I would stop in occasionally for a piece of equipment that was needed for a child on my caseload. And eventually, I made the commitment to become a volunteer with Bridge Ministries and it has been so wonderful!
I am originally from Wisconsin and moved to the Pacific Northwest about 25 years ago. My husband Paul and I live in the Redmond area with our puppy Digby. I like to run, bike, swim and hike, and generally just being outside with nature.
My son, Michael, is 33 and lives in San Diego, working in research in the area of engineering and mathematics. My daughter, Marianne, is 29 and lives in Montana where she works with horses at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch. With both of my kids living in beautiful parts of the country, I frequently take long weekends to visit them.
At Bridge Ministries I enjoy the challenge of gathering all of the Pediatric equipment and organizing it into one area. I love to connect with families and local agencies to match the proper equipment to a child with disabilities. Every week families share how grateful they are to have received equipment for a donation, as they simply were not able to afford the equipment on their own.
It has been an absolute joy to get to know the many people that work to make Bridge Ministries an incredible organization that helps people every day.”
“Instead of each person watching out for their own good, watch out for what is better for others.” Philippians 2:4
Neal Richardson, our equipment center manager, has this to share about Trish and her contributions as a volunteer-
One of Trish’s greatest contributions has been overhauling and helping in our pediatric equipment section. She helps in keeping the pediatric equipment organized and up to date. Trish has such a bright spirit that she brings into the center. She loves to focus on helping others by making them smile and giving them a nice hug when needed. She is a rock star and so strong!
Trish is an important connection between Bridge and medical organizations, schools, families and those needing equipment who may not be aware of our equipment center. And she has been instrumental in both getting pediatric equipment donated to us as well as helping so many find the equipment they need.
Thank you, Trish, for giving so much to Bridge. We deeply appreciate you!
