June Employee Spotlight – Gaby Korwin
Gaby joined the Bridge staff in 2018 via job placement services offered through Provail. And we have so enjoyed her quirky sense of humor, her very attentive and sharp mind, and her willingness to take on any administrative job she has been asked to do. We have learned so much from Gaby, who is challenged with Autism, about how to make her workspace uniquely hers and how to make her work experience upbeat and affirming for both her and the rest of the Bridge team. It has been a joy to get to know Gaby over the last 4 years and we want you to know a little something about her too.
Gaby was born in Canada but grew up in Wichita, Kansas where she graduated from Northwest High School. Her favorite subjects were math, computer science, and band where she played the clarinet. Gaby then attended and completed the Project SEARCH program – an internship program designed to help people with disabilities prepare for competitive employment.
Gaby and her family moved to Washington State in 2015 and she wasted no time in securing employment. She actually works three jobs at present of which one is at Bridge. And because of her sharp mind, Gaby loves to take on a challenge such as completing a 2,000 piece LEGO building set and a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle as well as Sudoku.
And what else does Gaby love to do in her spare time? She loves to visit local farms to see the animals, swim, bowl, and she is working on her yellow belt in Hapkido. Gaby also loves to attend the Mariner and Kraken games with her dad.
And you should know too that Gaby loves anything Disney and can recite the dialog of every classic Disney movie from beginning to end. That is just how sharp her mind and memory are. Show Gaby how to do something once and she has got it!
We are looking forward to Gaby’s continued presence as a member of our staff. She is one in a million and is a testament to the truth that disability should never keep anyone from being all they can be or from contributing in a very meaningful way to any organization and its mission. We think that is what we want you to know most about Gaby.
Here’s what the Bridge staff think about Gaby:
Gaby does excellent work for Bridge Ministries. She has a remarkable attention to detail, takes pride in her work, and has high expectations of herself.
When she sees something out of order, she fixes it. Gaby never has to be prompted to do these things. She strives to do her job correctly and to the best of her ability.
