Smiles Build Bridges

Most of us have heard the saying, “Smile and the world smiles with you.” One of the most powerful smiles to me, is the smile my infant granddaughter gives me when I appear in the room. Regardless of whatever may be on my mind, when she smiles at me, overwhelming joy fills my heart.

That heart-lifting joy of beautiful smiles is what I experience each month at Sunday Evening Celebrations. Each smile from our friends living with disabilities, whether it be when old friends recognize each other or new friends are made, has the power to build a bridge from isolation to belonging, to break through our differences and build community.
