For the month of May we are honored to featured artwork created by Michele Appell*. Michele has been involved with Bridge for a number of years and how happy we are to share with you her love of art! Her inspiration for this piece was the Special Olympics. She explained that she included the American flag as a symbol of our freedom to be who we are because everyone belongs and we are all winners.

Michele entered this artwork into the 2019 King County DCHS Giving Program and won 3rdPlace- congrats Michele!!

Living with a disability has not hindered Michele as she loves expressing herself in artwork, poetry, and photography. She has also served on her high school yearbook committee and is on staff with the non-profit SODA (Service Opportunities by and for Disabled Adults) as their news editor and photographer. Additionally, she is also a contributor to the Highland Times, a publication put out by the Highland Center in Bellevue.

We love Michele’s inspiration for this artwork because it is a reminder that all of us should be free to be who God created us to be and we are indeed all winners!
